Meta Can Now Guess Your Movie Thoughts

Meta’s AI decodes brain responses to movies
Meta’s FAIR team has unveiled TRIBE, a 1B-parameter neural network that can predict how human brains respond to movies by analyzing video, audio, and text, winning first place in the Algonauts 2025 brain modeling competition.
Multimodal analysis: Processes sight, sound, and dialogue to predict brain activity without direct brain scans.
High accuracy: Correctly forecasts over 50% of patterns across 1,000 brain regions after training on 80+ hours of content.
Outperforms rivals: Excels in brain areas where multiple senses merge, beating single-sense models by 30%.
TRIBE offers a major leap in understanding how we process complex media, opening doors to neuroscience breakthroughs. But it also raises concerns: by revealing the neural “formulas” for grabbing attention, such AI could make doomscrolling and binge-watching even harder to resist.

Claude Gets a Memory

Anthropic has introduced a new memory feature for its Claude chatbot.
Allowing users to recall and review past conversations on demand. Initially available for Max, Team, and Enterprise plans across web, desktop, and mobile, the feature will roll out to more plans soon.
Recall on demand: Claude can search past chats, summarize them, and let users seamlessly continue projects without starting over.
Privacy-first approach: Unlike ChatGPT or Google’s Gemini, Claude only revisits old conversations if explicitly asked, avoiding permanent storage.
Cross-project organization: Helps keep workspaces and projects separate, so users never lose track of ongoing tasks.
This feature makes a balance between productivity and privacy, offering the benefits of AI memory without the risks of constant data retention.
