Italy Drops First Full AI Law

Italy becomes the first EU country with a full AI law, setting strict rules and penalties.

Italy has passed a comprehensive AI law, limiting child access, punishing harmful use with prison, and aligning with the EU AI Act. The law pushes for safe, transparent, and human-focused AI while also funding innovation.

• Prison terms of 1 to 5 years for harmful AI use such as deepfakes or fraud

• Children under 14 need parental consent to access AI

• €1bn fund set aside to support AI, cybersecurity, and telecom companies
