Gemini turns pics into videos

Google has introduced a new feature for Gemini, allowing users to transform static images into 8-second videos, complete with AI-generated sounds, background audio, and even speech.
Powered by Veo 3, Google’s video AI model, the feature converts reference images into short 720p MP4 clips with synchronized audio.
Available first for Premium users (Google AI Ultra and Pro subscribers) in select regions, rolling out on web today and on mobile this week.
Users can add custom prompts for scene movement, sound effects, and dialogue, with outputs including visible and invisible (SynthID) AI watermarks.
This update brings AI-powered video creation directly into Gemini, eliminating the need for separate tools like Google’s Flow. With expanding access to 75 new countries, Google is making advanced AI video generation more accessible, blending images, motion, and sound seamlessly for creative and professional use.

Two new models released: A 27B multimodal model for interpreting medical images and records, and MedSigLIP for image-text analysis.
Breakthrough accuracy: The 27B model scores 87.7% on MedQA, outperforming similar-sized AI tools, while the 4B version hits 64.4%, both state-of-the-art (SOTA).
Real-world ready: In tests, MedGemma’s X-ray reports matched human radiologists’ quality 81% of the time, with hospitals already customizing it for urgent care and traditional Chinese medicine.
MedGemma’s open, adaptable design could democratize high-quality healthcare, putting AI-powered diagnostics on phones and laptops, especially for underserved communities and smaller clinics. This isn’t just innovation; it’s a leap toward equitable, global medical access.
